Mr. Tom Ryan graduated with a BA Honours from University College Dublin in 1987. After teaching in France, he returned to Ireland in 1989 to complete a Research MA from UCD in 1991.
Then, Tom went on to teach and organize programs at Herriot Watt University in Edinburgh in 1991 - 1996. Following this, he worked for Napier University’s International Office, spending time in Taiwan and South East Asia in 1996 – 1998.
A clear talent for immigration work led to his position at the Scottish Refugee Council in 1998. This rigorous experience has proved invaluable and allowed Tom to handle highly complex issues in a calm and professional manner. At the SRC, Tom held responsibility for the management of asylum and human rights case work at the SRC's sites across Scotland.
Tom was then recruited by a large Scottish law firm, managing both asylum and business clients. Tom grasped this opportunity as he was keen to gain experience of corporate immigration and manage a wide portfolio of clients.
In 2004, Tom returned to Ireland after seeing a need for these services in Ireland. Tom’s knowledge and skills are based on negotiation with the government and an expert understanding of Irish immigration procedures.
He is a keen open water swimmer and regularly competes in the cold Irish waters between May and November.
Tom has been FGI’s alliance partner for several years.
