Following a ruling from the European Court of Justice, the Netherlands cannot require work permits for non-EU foreign workers that are lawfully employed (meaning, they have work authorization for employment in the other EU country) with another EU company and who are contracted to provide services to a Dutch company in the Netherlands. As an ongoing change, it is expected that this will ultimately reduce processing times for foreign employees as they will no longer have to obtain work permits for their temporary assignments in the Netherlands. Instead, the Dutch government will simply require administrative notification of the temporary assignment. At this time, it is unclear if other EU countries will adopt the same policy.
