On August 21st, 2015 David Parradang, the comptroller-general of Nigeria Immigration Service, was suspended from his position for hiring 700 inspectors and 900 assistants without approval. A deputy comptroller-general has already been appointed during the ongoing investigation. Nigeria has also been on alert recently when Ahmed Al Assir, an ISIS leader, was granted a Nigerian visa in Lebanon and attempted to travel to Nigeria prior to being arrested.

Due to these developments, it is to be expected that Nigerian consulates will examine visa applicants more closely and cause delays for work permit applications.
