Belgium has issued an exemption to the work-permit requirement affecting third-country nationals who move to Belgium to work for a period of a year. Only foreign nationals who have already received long-term resident status in another European Union country prior to moving to Belgium, qualify for this exemption.
This exemption would permit eligible foreign nationals to work without first requiring work authorization if they have worked in Wallonia on a Type B work permit for 12 months or on a Type B work permit for 12 months in a shortage profession in Flanders or Brussels. This amendment took effect on July 1, 2015.
