Taiwan may seek to facilitate work permit requirements for foreign nationals. If the criteria is indeed amended, minimum work experience and salary requirements for foreign nationals and the minimum capital requirements for employers may be reduced or entirely removed. The relaxation of the work permit rules would enable employers to more easily recruit and hire foreign workers in Taiwan.

Presently, foreign nationals applying for work permits must sustain at least two years of work experience, a minimum monthly salary of NT$ 47,971 and have a university degree. Under the current regulations, employers must be registered and meet the minimum revenue requirements of NT$ 10 million if registered for more than one year or proof of invested capital of NT$ 5 million for those registered for less than one year. The government anticipates a decision on the work permit rules by the end of the year.
