A new normative published on December 15th, 2016, issued new rules regarding the time frame for registration of foreign nationals before the Federal Police in regards to visa extensions and transformation approvals.

According to the new ordinance, once the request for immigration regularization has been granted, the foreign national must register with the Foreign Police within 90 days of approval, in order to obtain the identity card.  If the registration is not complete within 90 days, the foreign national may still complete the registration, provided that he proves the conditions presented on the initial application remain the same.

Re-publication requests will now only be accepted regarding typing mistakes in the applicant’s personal information, such as name and dates.  All other re-publication requests will be archived.
