The prevailing wage for jobs in Canada were recently updated on September 25, 2017 for many industries.

Work permit applications filed on or after September 25th should ensure to meet the new prevailing wage, which is set by the Employment and Skills Development Canada/Service Canada (ESDC).

It is possible that pending applications, such as work permits and Labour Market Impact Assessment applications, may be impacted by the change as well.  Employers may be requested to amend the wage according to the new requirement.

Applications that are affected by the new prevailing wage requirement are Intra Company Transfer Work Permits, LMIA non-Global Talent Strategy, LMIA Global Talent Stream, the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), as well as Permanent Residence.
