New work passes were implemented on September 15, 2017 for the Marine Shipyard and Construction Sector to include a QR code that can be accessed on a mobile application, as seen here. An app can be downloaded, which allows employers and pass holders to check on the status of the work pass with their smartphones.
The pass was implemented in stages, with other sectors to receive the new work pass on January 15, 2018. The domestic sector will now implement the new passes beginning March 20, 2018. The existing WP cards will remain valid and the new cards will be issued once the pass holder renews their WP.
