Effective October 13, 2018, labor contracts and contract extensions for foreign nationals will be submitted online to a new platform, Virtual System for Foreign Personnel.  Once the documents are uploaded, the application will be automatically approved, however, work may not commence until the applicant receives the work visa.

The new platform is introduced to mitigate the delays in the current process for the approval of the labor contracts which will allow the work permit application process to continue.

Labor contracts will be automatically cancelled for applicants that lose their residence permit.

Employers must keep records for five years from the end date of a labor contract for cases in which the applicant is exempt for submitting the contract.  This would apply for spouses, children, or children of Peruvian nationals or permanent residence visa holders.
