As reported earlier, applications for entry/work permits must be submitted while the foreign national worker is outside Kenya. Special pass applications are being strictly scrutinized and rejected if the authorities believe the applicant will stay long term or if the position can be filled by a local applicant.
Effective July 1, the immigration authorities now also require tax compliance certificates to be submitted with the work permit application. This will also be required for renewal applications, as well as a tax compliance certificate from the foreign national.
