Canada allows eligible foreign nationals to apply for Canadian citizenship. As a Canadian citizen, you will gain many rights, some of which include being able to hold a Canadian passport and vote in all elections.
To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must:
- be a permanent resident
- have lived in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years
- have filed your taxes (if required to do so)
- pass a citizenship test
- prove your language skills
