FEM Event: Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) Presents “Crossing the Border: Utilizing NAFTA to work in Canada & the US”.
Kapnick Insurance Group 769 Chicago Rd. Troy, MI 48083
The Detroit Chapter of the Forum for Expatriate Management is pleased to announce our next Global Mobility event entitled "Crossing the Border: Utilizing NAFTA to Work in Canada and the US".

As Human Resource and Global Mobility professionals working in the Metro Detroit area, we have seen first-hand the unique and prosperous relationship Canada and the US share. With the implementation of the NAFTA agreement in January 1994, many corporations expanded facility operations across the border to utilize the benefits of both workforces. Furthermore, as trade regulations eased, country border restrictions vanished as good and services were easily passed mutually among countries. These events have resulted in the need for a reciprocal exchange of workers to facilitate the business requirements in each country.

Please join us for a discussion on September 28th as we review employment immigration requirements for exchanging workers in Canada and the US under the NAFTA agreement. We will facilitate an open forum discussion centered around the various visa and work permit options Canadian and US workers have for working in Canada and the US. Additionally, we will discuss important trends and changes in employment immigration in Canada and the US that could affect your company. With featured corporate speakers to offer insight, we anticipate this discussion will be lively and thought provoking.

The Voice of the Expatriate – Expectations Examined
Automation Alley- 2675 Bellingham Drive- Troy, MI 48083
The Voice of the Expatriate – Expectations Examined

Various studies exploring the components of expat assignments are typically derived from the perspective of an employer and rarely viewed from the standpoint of the employee on assignment. In 2015, Cigna Global Health Benefits partnered with the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC) to conduct an independent research study to review how globally mobile employees experience, perceive and value elements of their assignment terms and programs. Like most studies comparing and contrasting the viewpoints of employers and their employees, there exists a gap that, if used effectively, can guide employers to make more effective decisions about the assignment packages that support their employees abroad.

Please join us for a discussion on April 26 as we dive deep into the mind of an expatriate. We will facilitate an open forum discussion centered around key findings from the 2015 expatriate survey. We will examine expat viewpoints on topics such as managing costs, repatriation, talent and cultural support. Additionally, we will review what the expat wants in terms of benefits packages, medical care and support from their employer. With featured corporate speakers and expat assignees to offer their insight, we anticipate this discussion will be lively and thought provoking
